About Shachar

My name is Shachar Lavi, I am an opera singer, living and working in Germany. My career (still ongoing) has yielded many significant achievements which I am very proud of and which you are welcome to explore under my professional Web-page.

While still pursuing a career as a professional performing artist, I am nearing the completion of my bachelor’s degree in psychology and am in the final stages of my training as a life coach at the Adler Institute. Over the last few years I have completed various life-coaching trainings, and today, among other things, I lead workshops for artists and recently joined the mentorship program initiated by the America-Israel Culture Foundation where I guide artists in their forming paths. (for more information see Life- coaching page)

As a Nomad artist for a decade, coming from a quite unusual background, I came to a realization that today, more than ever (post Corona, ongoing wars, worldwide social- economic crises etc.) there is a substantial vacuum when it comes to multi-level support systems for people leading nomadic lifes away from their place of origin with emphasis on itinerant artists.

Personally, choosing this way of life brought many challenges- some are welcome but some (if not- most) undesirable. With facing those challenges one requires the right tools – mental, emotional, intellectual as well as physical. The immense deficiency of support frameworks makes such challenges almost unbearable for people who has to manage a life within a life. As a result, many nomads and artists go through their journey alone, feeling misunderstood and lonely.

Coming from a place of uncertainty and struggle myself, I decided it was time to take action, for the benefit of my own life, but also in hopes I could be of value to others who might be experiencing the same extraordinary journey and feel that they are somewhat lost.

Blue-suitcase has metamorphosed several times during the years. It was created out of my own personal need for acquiring tools to help me cope with my unfolding, rapidly shifting life. By sharing my life experience and some of the insights I gained along the way, I am hoping to shed a new light on the challenges one faces as a nomad artist, raise the awareness of the hardships we face, and maybe bring comfort to those who feel unseen by communicating that they are not alone.

Whether you are facing transition in a multi-cultural environment,  embarking on a new artistic path, are in the midst of your journey or even finding yourself in cross-roads trying to find the right way forward- this blog might be for you.

Through this blog I will do my best, in the most authentic and open way possible, to share insights, ideas, thoughts, tools I’ve acquired along the way in the hopes that you will find them useful and helpful too. Hopefully it could help open the idea of forming a stronger, more cohesive community of individuals who, through shared experiences and support can flourish and make a better world around us.
